Artificial intelligence development has seen an "amazing renaissance" and is beginning to solve problems that were once seen as science fiction, according to Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos. Machine learning, machine vision, and natural language processing are all strands of AI that are being developed by technology giants such as Amazon, Alphabet's Google and Facebook for various uses. For example, Amazon's voice assistant Alexa, which is in its Echo speaker, relies on natural language processing – the ability for computers to understand human speech. These AI developments were praised by the Amazon founder. "It is a renaissance, it is a golden age," Bezos told an audience at the Internet Association's annual gala last week. "We are now solving problems with machine learning and artificial intelligence that were … in the realm of science fiction for the last several decades.

Everyone from Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos to Bill Gates is talking artificial intelligence at Code Conference 2016. When he's not building electric cars or helping to create the idea for a high-speed transit system, Elon Musk really wants citizens of Earth to go to Mars. During a wide-ranging interview at The Code Conference, the CEO of Tesla Motors and SpaceX discussed everything from life on Mars to the possibility that life is just an elaborate computer simulation. This wouldn't be the first time Musk has shared some wildly ambitious ideas and thoughts. Let's break down the three most interesting things Musk shared during his Code talk: Musk predicts the first humans will travel to Mars eight years from now, arriving on the red planet by 2025. Artificial intelligence is on the verge of changing our life, tech entrepreneurs say. Artificial intelligence and machine learning will create computers so sophisticated and godlike that humans will need to implant "neural laces" in their brains to keep up, Tesla Motors and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk told a crowd of tech leaders this week. While Musk's description of an injectable human-computer link may sound like science fiction, top tech executives repeatedly said that artificial intelligence (AI) was on the verge of changing everyday life during a discussion at a tech industry conference in California this week. It is no secret that tech companies are diving into AI analytics research, an industry that is forecast to grow to US70 billion ( 96.9 billion) by 2020 from just US8.2 billion in 2013, according to a Bank of America report. Big launch: "The future of electric cars is looking bright", says Elon Musk. AI, which combs through large troves of raw data to predict outcomes and recognise patterns, is already used in web search systems, marketing recommendation functions and security and financial trading programs.

Among many other things, the bill adopts some of the strictest regulations for commercial and hobby drones yet. It's way past time to start getting a handle on these flying robots.
